Environmental awareness & stakeholder engagement
As part of broader projects or as stand-alone initiatives, ECOSUSTAIN designs, develops and implements a wide range of environmental awareness, communication and stakeholder engagement activities. Our work covers the entire process, from the scientific development of key messages and communication concepts to the production of tailored materials and the implementation of targeted campaigns and field activities.
Our experience includes the production of information and interpretation materials, interactive games, digital and audiovisual content, and environmental documentaries, as well as the design and implementation of targeted awareness and outreach campaigns addressing biodiversity conservation and major environmental challenges.
Activities are tailored to specific audiences, including local communities, schools, visitors, resource users, professional groups, public authorities and other stakeholders. ECOSUSTAIN organises workshops, public events, stakeholder meetings, participatory activities and local campaigns that facilitate communication, knowledge exchange and active involvement in environmental protection.
Our capacity also extends to practical, field-based awareness and conservation actions, including coastal and underwater clean-ups, the design, production and installation of environmental information and interpretation panels, interactive awareness activities and games, and campaigns promoting responsible behaviour and the sustainable use of natural resources.

By combining scientific expertise, communication and direct stakeholder engagement, ECOSUSTAIN translates environmental knowledge into accessible and targeted actions that raise awareness, strengthen participation and support long-term behavioural change and environmental stewardship
Indicative Project
Conservation and Management of Marine Habitats in Natura 2000 Areas
Project: “Management measures for marine caves (Habitat Type 8330), rocky reefs (Habitat Type 1170) and Posidonia seagrass meadows (Habitat Type 1120) in marine areas of the Natura 2000 network” is funded by the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (NECCA).
Implemented by ECOSUSTAIN for the Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency (NECCA), the project “Management measures for marine caves (Habitat Type 8330), rocky reefs (Habitat Type 1170) and Posidonia seagrass meadows (Habitat Type 1120) in marine areas of the Natura 2000 network”* supports the protection and sustainable management of valuable marine ecosystems in Greece.
The project combines scientific assessment and monitoring with targeted conservation and restoration measures, training and public awareness. Working with protected-area management bodies and local communities, we connect scientific knowledge with practical approaches to reducing pressures on marine habitats and supporting their long-term conservation.
As part of this work, we designed and delivered educational and awareness activities for schools, local communities and coastal businesses. School visits engaged more than 1,000 students, while public events brought scientists, practitioners and citizens together to discuss marine conservation. A total of 8,000 leaflets and informative placemats were distributed through local businesses and hospitality venues, extending the reach of conservation messages to residents and visitors.
Our communication materials included interactive educational games, presentations, informational signs and the short documentary “Cities Beneath the Sea”. By combining scientific content with creative learning and visual storytelling, these resources make the underwater environment more accessible and remain available for future education and outreach activities.
